Rock am Ring takes place at the Nürburgring, the famous motor racing circuit in the Eifel hills. Tens of thousands of fans camp for a long weekend of rock, metal and alternative music in a unique setting.

Fun facts

  • The festival was first held in 1985.
  • Its twin festival, Rock im Park in Nuremberg, takes place on the same weekend with a shared line-up.
  • The Nürburgring Nordschleife is nicknamed the Green Hell for its difficulty.

What to see

  • The Nürburgring circuit and its famous Nordschleife.
  • The ruins of Nürburg Castle on a hill above the track.
  • The volcanic lakes and forests of the Eifel.

What to taste

  • Currywurst with fries.
  • Reibekuchen, crispy potato pancakes.
  • Beer from the Eifel region's breweries.

What to do

  • Enjoy the camping atmosphere, which is a big part of the festival.
  • Drive or ride along the Nordschleife on a public open day outside the festival.
  • Visit Burg Eltz or the Moselle valley before or after the event.

💡 Tip: From Cologne/Bonn or Frankfurt-Hahn airports continue by train or bus towards the area, then use festival shuttle buses from nearby stations. Book festival and camping tickets early, as accommodation in the Eifel is limited.
